A Broken Smile, A Broken Heart

by Jessica   Jun 10, 2005

She sat on her front porch,
the rain pouring down,
usually a smile would be on her face,
but now it was a frown.

She could feel the droplets hit her,
but she didn't care,
she could only think about him,
and why he wasn't there.

She knew something was wrong,
but she didn't know what to do,
maybe it was something she said,
that left her feeling blue.

But it couldn't be her fault,
she knew she hurt worse than him,
she had lost her smile that day,
she had lost it within.

She couldn't go on anymore,
feeling these feelings she felt,
how could someone hurt so much,
these feelings were what fate had dealt.

So how would she rid them?
She could no longer live like this,
she wouldn't live without his love,
it was too much of a risk.

So she ran inside and grabbed her blade,
not a tear fell from her face,
she walked behind the house and stood
for a moment to say grace.

She pulled the blade across her arm,
the blood feel freely out,
the pain was so unbearable,
that she wanted to shout.

But with each passing moment,
the blood flow increased,
finally she fell to the ground,
bloody and deceased.
