Strike Three (poem about abuse)

by Mel   Jun 10, 2005

You said you loved me and that you cared
But no one would have guessed by the bruises that i bared
You would say i was bad, that a lesson needed to be taught
You struck me over and over, because u loved me i thought

I figured you were just trying to keep me protected
The thought that i was wrong, my head always rejected

Every time you hit me, u promised it would be the last,
but then the next night, my drunken love, would forget about promises past

This time though, you went to far, you hit me too hard
I hope your next victim wont get as scarred
Its not fair that you got away, that they believed your lies,
I hope that because of u, no one else dies.

    It was GOOD,
    it didnt blow me away,
    but it was good.

the flow was not as good as it could have been, and there was this one bit where you forced a rhyme and it didnt make sense:
    "my head always rejected"
    umm yeah.

But you have a lot of potential, dont take my comments too personally im just trying to be honest. I wonder, what inspired you to write this? is it true?
