The Shadow

Pale faces in the dark moonlight
a shadow unknown to me
dark, unveiled shapes creeping in my heart and soul
casting light into my veins setting me free
a face unknown somehow always arrives
a mask covering the creature from eyes to see
he comes when i need someone the most
he breathes hope, fate and glee
the only one who can make me feel this way
the only one that can make me be
completely and utterly lost

voices within the wind whispering a song
is it his or someone else's?
my curiosity could go a mile long
whispering sweet nothings into my ear
my pounding heart cannot be wrong
should i follow? Or should i detour while i still have the chance?
i feel his warm breath on my neck and then it is gone
why can't this feeling stay?
grasp them and tie them together with some sort of bond
when will the masquerade be unveiled? Because until then i still remain
completely and utterly lost

Presence falling down with the rain
helping me to feel everything
feel every little pleasure, every little pain
the warmth of his arms around me
the only thing to help me stay sane
you're here with me in everything i do
the weight of redemption linked to me like a chain
what must be done to break free and see the real guy behind those decoys?
through it all i still remain
completely and utterly lost

so tell me hunni, will i ever get to see your face?
will i ever get to hear your voice?
will i ever get to feel your presence?
or will i have to remain in doubt the rest of my life?
i love you with all my heart and you are my comforting shadow
the dark figure casting light on me
but for now, i can only imagine...
