Tired of the game

by confusion   Jun 11, 2005

The same today as yesterday was
my heart on an automatic beat
emotionless, drumming inside of my chest
reminding me to get back on to my feet

the same routine as yesterday
awake to the same feelings held deep down
push them back, roll out of my bed
find a smile to replace this frown

i get washed and dressed as yesterday
find my bag and close the door
walk the same track day after day
sometimes why, I'm not really sure

the same drab lessons as yesterday
i dive into my thoughts head first
so much thinking, it isn't good for me
i only emerge back out even worse

arrive home, same time as yesterday
the smile still stuck in its exact place
making myself ill from all the tiredness
bags under my eyes grow on this pale face

i lie awake as i did yesterday
tossing and turning, pleading to sleep
the tears arrive just in time again
hugging my pillow, silently i weep

i must fall asleep 'bout four as yesterday
two hours of two extremes
one being the visions, the nightmares, the frights
other being my wishful dreams

the alarm clock rings, same time as yesterday
remove the tear stains once again
place that damn smile back in its place
inside I'm so tired of playing this game
