Were Sodliers Together

by Sassy   Jun 11, 2005

I pick up my gun and I head off to work.
In my camouflaged button up suit.
To make this world a safer place.
For children just like you.

Your eyes see fires of hatred each day.
And Your hearts break in half all the time.
And me and my workers, we do all we can.
To prevent such a horrible crime.

We don't fight to kill and we don't fight to win.
We fight for a better tomorrow.
To wake up to some breakfast, and our family's safe.
Not waking to bomb threats and sorrow.

You don't stand up and raise a hand,
to the flag during morning solute.
Yet day after day,and sleepless nights.
We are breaking our backs to save you.

I've watched to many soldiers die.
And to many strong men give up.
And lately I've watched my life pass me by.
And its almost like enough is to much.

You walk outside so carefree.
With your smiles and your friends.
But do you ever stop to think.
If the world will have an end.

Cause I walk outside, to the same strong faces.
Walk outside to my battlefield crew.
And I don't think about my money.
All I think about is what you go through.

Your fighting your War.
I'm fighting mine.
Theres not to big a difference.
But patience is time.

So stand up straight and put on a brave face.
And never let them see you cry.
When things get tough each tear you drop.
Causes one of my soldiers hearts to die.

I pick up my gun and I head off to work.
And I look passed the clear blue sea.
And pray to god, that ya ll here in this world.
Will also be fighting for me.

I'm in your hearts, your in my hearts. We are soldiers... together.

~ My Best Friend Joseph sent me this poem to read aloud at the memorial service held for soldiers. He was unfortunately one of the many soldiers who didnt make it back home from the War.~
