Sick and sicker

by Justin Groft   Jun 12, 2005

As i sit in here in mild trepidation
i wonder what lies amidst that stare
those eyes that seem to know no fixed gaze
and those hands lodged in your pockets
as if buried treasure lie within your grasp
i wish i could tie you up in my arms
extend my hold,
warm you in a blanket made for one
and feed you no chicken noodle soup,
until this time of shit was done
but it seems pretty petty to wish you so well
when this night seems so beautiful,
and i see its all you need
to tell you that i love you,
and to wish upon a star
that by the fall of morning dew,
you'd realize its all over
and you're star ridden voice,
of times left bare and stricken
on bed sheets stained in honest to god bared truths
it can shine through every moment in my life since past
and create a little niche in this heart since left cold
so when you dream tonight,
dream its my head on your pillow
softly breathing melodies weve yet to come across
nestled warmly, our bodies married to time we cant keep
and wishing it was like this every night,
burning brightly forever in a flame

I disagree with the above statement on this poem. This piece works well without rhyme. Please, don't feel the urge to add forced rhyming as I feel this would ditract from the overall effect.
