Defeated Battle

by Heather M Craig   Jun 12, 2005

Night approaches softly
whispers swirl my ear,
they pull me into their darkness
where their voices lull my fear.

The pull the sinister enclosure
over my, once, modest eyes
dominating my every move,
things I shall comply.

They peel away the mask
watching the colors fade.
The smiles turn to dust
as the tears start to pervade.

My body, vacilliating
upon the shades of the wall
bleeding out the reticent pain
of the nights I still recall.

With flashbacks piercing me,
they force me to go deeper,
with the trails burning the floor,
I confront the grim reaper.

His whisper in my isolation
puts my agonizing soul at ease.
Weary, I allow Him to win
for His soothing escape ends my worries.
