My old friend, Blade

by Content   Jun 14, 2005

Torn skin beckons me again
As I feel the jagged edges of my heart,
Offering me release from this excruciating pain
I came so close to surrendering, to ripping myself apart.

An old friend that I prefer to forget,
You live in the dark side of my memory,
You have taken me to the edge of sanity,
And I hate that you are a part of my story.

You slice me without compassion
Not stopping so I can catch my breath,
Cutting deeper so the blood flows crimson
You take my dignity until there is nothing left.

Well I certainly hope this isn't a true story. Either way it's dark and expressive. Nice. And thank you for all of your comments.
