Hard truth

by Tamara   Jun 14, 2005

I’ll leave with the remembrance of the person I thought you were
I’ll forget the night you betrayed my trust for a wrongful act with her

I’ll think of you often
I’ll even try to view you as a friend

I’ll overlook the hurtful things you sometimes said
I’ll remember the way your laughter made me smile instead

Yet when you leave you’ll forget me as soon as I’m out of your sight
You’ll look back at that night with her and somehow find an excuse that makes everything all right

You’ll forget I was ever even a part of your existence
You’ll leave behind my pointless persistence

You’ll disregard every thoughtful touch I ever gave
You’ll throw out the things I’ll always save

This is the distance between two hearts
This is the time when it’s hard to tell where one story ends and another starts
