I only want to find myself
That's what I want the most
Because what can I possibly be
If I don't have me?
There's too many kids
afraid
Of what people might say
If they let themselves loose.
If they actually showed up their talents
of what they can do.
They want to be the same
And they lack the courage
to let themselves shine.
I know because the darkness is also mine.
Surrounded by faces
And people of all colors and tones
But still
I feel so alone.
Because all of these people
are wearing a mask.
And when they want to cry,
they laugh.
When they feel angry,
it's covered with a fake, glued on smile.
They know that they can fake it
For at least a little while.
But why can't we just cry
When we want to cry?
Why do we have to try
to wear a mask all of the time?
Please tell me what's wrong
With being sad sometimes?
What's wrong with being angry?
It's only part of life
Why do we cower in the darkness
When we can see the light?
I only want to find myself
That's really what I want the most.
Because who can I possibly be
If I can't just be me?
