Help!
Help! he shouted from so far out.
And I could do naught
But sit there and watch.
Pulled out to sea-
Tugged, pushed, driven by
Such invisible, yet such tangible
Forces.
Safe here, up here, away,
I cannot help but think
Am I to watch another's death this day?
I trade places with the poor soul,
Just in my mind,
And wonder if I'll drown.
Will I go under, sucked in,
To ponder my fate as I go down?
Shall I wear myself out, give up, give in?
Will I yield myself to the cold all around?
Help! I shouted from so far out.
And I could do naught
But sit here and watch.
