On the plane of life

by void.   Jun 18, 2005

Dips, dives, twirls, spins;
Aerial acrobatics at the end of strings.
Strong kite, good line, steady wind-
What could go wrong?
A quick jerk to launch,
A punch or pull to turn.
The craft shoots up, hopes rising;
Performs a spin, it's good flying today;
Turns- falls- crashes- What happened?
Check the line, the wings, the wind-
The entire skeleton of the beast.
No signs of tampering, tearing,
Breaking, snapping, bowing.
And yet, here it lies, on the
Plane of life, of physical things, of ordinary-
Not up there, where the hopes,
The dreams, the wishes reside.
So quickly it happened, no time to react-
What went wrong?
