Love That Glitters Is Gold

by Dee   Jun 19, 2005

You were going to be my roommate
We started out as friends
We weren't high school sweethearts
But we were together till the end

The first time we made love
I felt the earth shatter
From that moment on
Nothing else would matter

Your love set a record
Six times in one night
I had my first sensation
Everything felt right

Rolling around under the covers
Fishing at the lake
Smearing icing on your nose
from your birthday cake

Standing at the sink
Washing all the dishes
You brush your body against mine
And fill my neck with kisses

Shooting a game of pool
Letting me win every game
Snuggling up with you
makes me feel the same

Going out on the boat
Spending time together
Watching the sun go down
Dreaming of forever

Staring into your eyes
Knowing you were the one
Even when we fought
I was having fun

An explosion in the oven
Of my special dinner
You drove me to town
To get us chinese dinner

Chocolate milk oil changes
From the sunken boat
Sitting out there with you
Should have kept our love afloat

We cuddled up together
each and every night
We thought what we had
Would always be alright

Planting Hostas in the yard
You built me my first well
We laughed about the look of it
What a story we had to tell

When watching our two dogs
We were never bored
With your old stinky sock
They played tug-of-war

On those cold mornings
You fired up the pellet stove
You gave me a pair of your socks
When my toes were cold

Planting new flowers
Playing in the snow
These things meant so much to me
More than you'll ever know

Seasons came and seasons went
It was paradise forever
When I thought you and I
Would always be together

Love like this is hard to find
I never knew love like this before
What on earth was I thinking
When I walked out the door

I long for you my lover, no one can take your place
I just hope fate takes me back
and you forgive all my mistakes

If we are ever together
I will love you till the end
For you are the love of my life,
my lover and my friend
