Just let me recover

by Lost Girl   Jun 19, 2005

Why won’t you listen to a single word I’ve said?
We’ll just go around in circles until one of us is dead
Just accept me and the things that I choose to do
The question was to me, not to be answered by you

Don’t have the right to control me, no power of my life
Now there is a pen and paper by me instead of a knife
And even sometimes now there is a smile on my face
Maybe even one day I won’t feel so out of place

Just let me slowly recover, I’m sure I can save me from myself
I’m positive I don’t need help from you, or from anyone else
All I need now is for you to all just stand back away from me
Let the storm clouds clear so once more blues skies are there to see

Don’t keep insisting, that I should do what you tell me to
You don’t have any power over me or anything that I do
You haven’t helped me and I’m quite certain you never will
You do not have that kind of strength or that kind of skill

Acknowledge that I am human, I can make choices on my own
So please just let me recover, as I can face this world alone
One day I will look back to a past that is charred and grey
Thinking back to these memories of tomorrow and today…
