A young girl’s life

by Jamie   Jun 19, 2005

~This poem isn’t about one girl in particular, but young girls in general, the situation is just an example of what some people go through. Please rate and comment, it’s greatly appreciated.~

Its funny how
You can look at someone
And envy them so
You think you know them
And how they feel
You think they have it real good
And then you get to know them
And you discover
That under all that money
There is a father barely ever home
Out working 24/7
And under all those nice clothes and jewelry
There’s a mother
Who is abusive
In so many ways
Under those smiles and sweet laughs
There is a girl
Yearning for a new past
Under those eyes
There is truth
Her self confidence is low
She’s never been good enough
For anyone or thing
She thinks she’s ugly
Fat
And not very smart
She hates how she looks and wants to change it so
Under that pretty face
Is a girl who makes herself throw up
Not necessarily to be skinny
But just to make the pain go away
It’s her way of dealing
A girl’s life
Is nothing like what it seems
Filled with insecurities
Fears
Hopes
And dreams
So before you look at her
And think she has it good
Listen to her story
And see what you think then.

    I really love the poem.
The meaning behind it is so good and true.
That there are girls who live like this is so sad, but it's reality.
    Beautiful written.
