He Lied

They met at a party
and she fell in love with his smile
they talked the whole night
he liked her too after a while

they started dating the next day
and it lasted for a year
until she couldn't take in anymore
but being without him was her greatest fear

He had filled her up with lies from the beginning
made her believe he was true
she thought she was his one and only
after all they'd been through

he told her he loved her
and that they'd always be together
but no one ever told her
there's no such thing as forever

she finally found out though
that he had a girl on the side
all that time he didn't care
it broke her heart that he lied

her world was crushed
she didn't want him to be just a memory
but all he did was lie to her
and she was too blind to see

all she wanted was his love
to be held tight in his arms
he made everything ok for her
and kept her safe from harm

she wanted to pretend
everything was still alright
that he never cheated or lied
that they had no reason to fight

but she knew it was over
knew she could never forgive and forget
she wished she could just go back
to that first night they met
