Once A Peaceful Pond

Go drink yourself silly,
Just try to drink away your mistakes,
Take responsibilities of nothing,

Go ahead and blame things on me,
Blame this on your family,
Go cry about how we ignore you all the time,

When there are twenty people in your house,
Ignore our visits because you’re “sick,”
Make yourself a ghost when were around,

When I talk to you at night,
Share my poetry, share my life,
As you cry that your unloved,

Make me feel like nothing in your eyes,
But I feel more sorry for grandma than me,
She lives with you while you drink,

As you break her heart again and again,
She’s forced to live with your mistakes,
Sometimes forced to live with us,

A three-hour drive to escape that life,
We’ll house her from your abusive love,
We’ll shelter her as much as we could,

Broken promises of how you’ll stop,
You’re the rock thrown into the peaceful pond,
As the ripples affect the water,

The ripples of life affect those in it,
Just try to drink away your mistakes,
Learn that you caused more than the beginning,

Leaving your wife in the dark,
As you family supports her broken heart,
This family was once a peaceful pond,
But your drinking has disturbed the water.
