Fairies

by Lauraballz   Jun 21, 2005

Catch it.
Make a wish.
Blow it away.
That's what my Mum used to say to me
In the days I still called her Mummy.

I never forgot those words.
Every time I saw the white fluff
That looked like a dandelion seed
Set free into the air,
Without the stem.

Even up to this day
I believed them to be fairies
As I was once told.

"The moment you see one,
Grab it and don't let go.
Hold it close as if it is everything you own.
Close your eyes and look deep inside.
Make a wish
And let it fall to the mercy of the wind."

Fairies were my favourite
Childhood memory.
Until today when I sat in that car
Window wound down
Looking out for a hope.

It came to me through that window.
The last chance of hope I had.
And as I foolishly tried to clutch it
I only pushed it away.
And that fairy flew.
Flew away without my wish.
But with my hope.

xXx
