Only One Happy Thought

I wanted to write a poem
A poem filled with happy things
Like rainbows and butterflies
Or maybe kittens and baby birdies

But all I could think about was
Thunderstorms and death
Depression and broken hearts
No matter how hard I tried
No happy words would come out

So here I sit
Pen in hand
Without a happy thought in my head
I think about my friends
You think that would be a happy thought
But all I see is them whispering and pointing and leering at me
I think about him
You also think that would be happy
Wrong again, all I see is him with her
And how he doesn't love me anymore

I sat for a long time
And finally I find one good thing
A friend who's always been strong and true
Someone I could tell anything to
She's always there when no one else is
Never once have I doubted her word
Never once have I lost faith

She's one of those people
That you only meet once in a lifetime
Even though we haven't been friends very long
I know your always someone I can depend on
That's right Emma
Your the only happy thought that came to my head
