Tell me Something

by Libby M   Jun 23, 2005

I am only a girl,
A delicate flower,
searching the field
for answers.
so-
Tell me a story
Tell me something,
Anything to help me
Understand.

When-how
I only was few steps
Away.
Was she what you needed,
Or was it because my steps
Were steps You never
Acknowledged?

Take me somewhere,
Take me to a place,
Anywhere would do
For I long to see
How it all came to be.

I hope you see me
when your eyes
look to the east
to the west,
To the north
and
To the south.
I hope you’d see me,
Even if you aren’t
Searching for me.
I still would like to know
That you still do remember me.

I don’t cry anymore
I just want you to know...
Am all cried out, and
The reasons to my dried eyes
has been you.
I no longer wait for you,
I just wanted you to know...
My patience no longer exist
Because I know you are never
Going to return home.
Though I still would like you to
Take me to a place where we can sit
together, to be alone
a moment is what I need with you
A moment to explain it all.

When-How
Last time, I remember
It was my name you cried out for.
I heard you-Though I no longer do...
I remember still-it wasn’t that long ago
You said, “I’d only love you, I’ve only Loved you.”
Were those words spoken from the heart,
Or were they words you found in someone else’s love letter?
I no longer know, I stopped trying to find out.

Don’t hide from me,
You will never be free.
For as long as you continue
On cheating away, hiding behind
Another woman’s door,
You will never be free, because
We both know, somehow
Your heart belongs to me.

So-
Tell me the story
Of how you two met,
Of how it all came to be
Who first said hello?
Tell me from beginning to end...
Tell me, don’t skip not even one small detail.
Show me the places you two made love,
Tell me how she felt against your bare skin.
Show me how she touched you-
And how often you whispered her name.
I long to know-Don’t ask me why-
But if you happen to ask, I’ll tell you this...
A broken heart searches always for answers,
And a story is a tale filled with many questions,
Answers, and oh reasons.
So tell me Your story, and I will sit quietly
As I will learn your questions, your answers
And your reasons for leaving me with a broken
Heart.

That was a really powerful poem. It was really sad too. The part where you ask intimate questions to the man who broke your heart, just broke my heart. Very good. Very well written. Great job:)
