Abused

by LindaPham   Jun 24, 2005

He sits alone in the corner
crying out his pain
he holds his bear tight
trying to keep from going insane.

his mother abuses him
and laughs at him too
telling him he's worthless
and saying "I will never love you".

he is not considered part of the family
sometimes he isn't even feed
his mother finds joy from his pain
he just wishes he were dead.

he does good in school
top of his class too
but his mother is never impressed
and tells him "I hate you".

he steals food from classmates
in order to survive
that's all the little boy knows
to him it's the only way to stay alive.

he sleeps on an old army cot
down the basement alone
even his brothers laugh at him
he's all on his own.

she doesn't call him by his name
she now calls him "it"
she beats him sometimes for no reason
and treats him like s**t.

when asked about his bruises
he says they were "accidents"
that's what she tells him to say
because more pain he must prevent.

even though she beats him
he feels he must protect her anyway
he keeps the secret to himself
deep inside him always.

he continues to sit in the corner
clutching his bear
the only thing that's keeping him alive is the wish
that someday he'll find a family who cares.

*this poem was based on the book "a child called it" a true story about one of the most severe child abuse cases in California history this book the saddest book I've ever read and is far worst then what i wrote down in my poem*
