Without You

Searching for words
To label every star
She stares up at the sky
And strums her guitar

Never has she been happy
Until she heard his voice
She knew he had to be the one
She had made the right choice

He swore to her no pain
Or wrong would take flight
And if it did, he'd be right there
Armed and ready to fight

She was so weak and helpless
That on still nights, she would cry
The love the pain had caused her,
But told her not to die

He swore to her with strong faith
He would not let her down
Yet she stood so humble
And he let her fall to the ground

She felt the world crumble
It all just fell apart
He couldn't help her anymore
He couldn't endanger his own heart

Through the darkness she disappeared
Behind the shadows of the night
He didn't love her anymore
She was deprived of all light

"Please, you said you loved me!"
Helplessly, she screamed to the sky
The stars all burned out
And she sat down and cried

Soon enough, he found her
Determined just to save his love
What he saw put him to his knees
And his arms raised to the sky above

On the ground in front of him
A familiar ashen face he could recall
But a pool of her blood to say goodbye;
An ensignia of her fall.

In the dirt there was a message
As deadly as a viper's venom
The words stirred up forgotten emotions
That were all lost within him

"My love, you led me to believe
Nothing we said was true,
But I stick by what I said,
'I'd die without you.'"
