If you're listening...

by Emily   Jun 26, 2005

Is there a god
'cause he seems not to care
if I'm stuck in this hell
or dead in the ground

If he's up there
he should answer my plea
to rescue this world
and sanctify me

This world's corrupt
as I'm sure he knows
we rape and we kill
and the good is all gone

but maybe he hopes
we will find the light,
but in this dark world
the light is too dim

Many will search
and pray for the light,
but their sins are too great
they're going to hell

We want to find God,
but get the devil instead
he's not hard to find
he lives in our hearts

There are those few
with pure goodness and grace
maybe he hopes
we'll follow their path

If he's listening
send us an angel
to lead us to glory
and give us some hope

Our wars are too brutal
our hearts all too cold
we wont find the light
if we shut all the doors

You must open a window
for the rays to come in,
but the windows are bolted
and locked hard and tight

One day the rain will fall
and clean the slate
drown all our sins
and start us anew

but that day is too far
it hasn't come yet
it may take some time,
but our hopes will live on

and in these dark days
when the hope is so few
and the light is too dim
we cry and we sing
and pray he will answer.
