Lingering

by void.   Jun 27, 2005

Lingering-
Smoke after the fire.
Spread your darkness
Higher, wider-
You just have to- need to-
Blot out the sun.
But to do that,
You need substance.

Content yourself with choking,
Blinding.
It's what you do best.
Others see you,
Come running, too late-
The damage is done,
The fire is out.

Behind, it leaves nothing-
Ash, memories, fleeting faithless hope.
And the shapeless curse,
You fateful fume,
Just blind me as I sit here
Lingering.
