See-Through Smile

Never did she cry for you
Not once did she say she cared
Always with a smile on
You think that sadness was never there

Never did she shed a tear
Pretending that she had no fear

You left her just standing there
Thoughts racing through her head
This was one of the first nights she couldn’t go to bed
Never did she cry for you
No matter what you did
Leaving her to wonder
Trying to read the thoughts you hid

It wasn’t all that hard to see through all the lies
That is probably why she never cried

She stopped waiting for you long ago
The day you left her standing in the snow

Why would you tell her such a lie?
Why would you try so hard to fight? She’s over you now
But it’s hard to tell
She knows that you were never there

But some how she still cares for you
Even with all the things you do
You won’t admit that you cared too

Even after you left her with a broken heart
Never could you get her to start
Crying for you
Whining for you
Pledging that she’d die for you
Why would she after all the pain?
After you treated her life like such a game?

Never did she cry for you
Not once did she say she cared
Even with that smile on
You know that sadness is still there
She thought that you were the one
But never ever having fun

Excuses and lies, heartache and more pain
Waiting for that final day

She wanted all of the suffering to end
But it was you who had stopped it instead

She was sad and mad
Then she put that smile on
Pretending that she didn’t care
Telling herself that it was only fair

She knew she deserved more
She was the one who wanted to walk through the door

She still wanted to give you a chance
She wanted to have one last dance

She wanted it all to work out in the end
But she’s getting tired of having to pretend
... Never would she cry for you
Yet the tears still burn inside of her
Never will she say she cared
Even though all that sadness is still there
And yet she lives her life with that smile on her face
Pretending all her feeling were just magically erased
