Three Years Wasted on You

Three years wasted on you

I had met you three years ago at a football game
You were so cute and funny; Jim was your name
Then it was goodbye we didn’t keep touch
I would never guess a year later I would love you so much
We met once again at the park one day
My heart melted I was speechless I didn’t know what to say
We played a game of football I tackled you in the muddy grass
I fell for you so hard, and then it was time to go at last
Then we said goodbye I thought I would never see you again
But not too soon I founded my cousin was your best friend
You came to his house that night, that’s when we first kissed
We eventually dated, that’s what I always wished
I gave you everything I had, everything I could
You gave me all you had like you promised you would
You were amazing to me you expressed yourself so deeply
When you asked if you could, I promised you could keep me
Our love was so spontaneous, our love was so much fun
But faster than I knew it all our love was done
Our love was put on hold you had unfinished business with her
With your ex girlfriend I didn’t speak a word
My world fell apart but finally you ended with her for good
I had another chance I knew that I would
But slowly you were changing becoming someone else
Going against everything you promised to yourself
I waited a whole year for you we always kept in touch
I would never guess during that year I would come to hate you so much
I was your on-call girlfriend, used me when you wanted
By our love we once had, my mind was being haunted
I wanted it back so bad and I tried so hard
Remembering the times we shared sweet kisses in my back yard
But now I realize what we have now is nothing all we have is the past
Your not the guy who I once loved, I can let you go at last.
