Shadow

by Kae   Jun 28, 2005

Standing here,
Watching people pass me by,
I’m invisible to them,
Invisible to the naked eye,

Will they ever see me?
Am I not even here?
Tired of being your shadow,
Hiding in your tears,

Pulling you away,
From the lonely streets,
Tired of being your slave,
So that you can sleep,

I’ll turn on your light,
So that they can see,
I’m not your shadow,
Blaming me for your misery,

Can’t just push me away,
When you cry your tears,
Stop blaming me,
For all of your fears!

I won’t be your pillow,
When I push you to fall,
You can’t hide me away,
When I wasn’t there at all,

Stop pretending I’m here,
When you knew I left,
I unlocked your heart,
And left you for death,

Stop using me,
As your great escape,
From the world in which you hide,
Where I keep you safe,

I won’t hold your burden,
I’m not your rock,
You can’t use me now,
Then just let me drop,

I’m not here to help you,
Then get chased away,
By your cures,
In the light of day,

I’m your shadow,
But I won’t disappear,
After your problems are done,
And you dry your tears.
