Black in July

by Exquisite_Emily   Jun 30, 2005

On 4th of July,
I plan to wear black,
I’m so tired of showing patriotism,
When I have none,
How people can be happy with America,
Will be a puzzle to me,
A fool came to us,
Lying about peace and money,
McDonalds has made us obese,
And yet we show patriotism,
4th of July should be a day of morning,
Full of grief; of reflection on our mistakes.

...That wasnt the point of the poem. Its saying, look if you want to be a patriotic country, you have to be an American, a true American, and we're doing a really bad job at it. Your right, the company didnt make us fat, but the fact that we choose to eat there is gross.
