Another Beautiful Day

by EpithetPoet   Jun 30, 2005

My own aged guilt rises past me in agony
Feeding off my own blood sweat and tears
While my cynism and lies foam as blood
And they ooze between the cracks of my heart

Envelop me only deeper into the person i hate
The person i will to kill yet the guilt holds me back
Restrains me to release the concrete hatred
Only to fall in defeat and congratulated by tears

And in a pool of broken mirrors and wasted life
For hours i sit in my own sorrow waiting
Waiting for a moment of euphoria to show
Yet never bears its side of sweetness

So in the darkness i birth my bitter tears
Holding in my homicidal temptations
Wipe away my shame and apply my laquered smile
Greet my family and friends for another beautiful day

I know so many who find themselves in this position - the usual low and the day after.

I like it; its serene innosence and truth in it grip the audience with empathy and reminders. I don't know a soul who hasn't found themself so low that they disgust the coming day.

Fake smiles, make up, lies, and whimming for a cover story ... yea, it can suck.

Very well illustrated; especially for those of us who just can't articulate these days. Hats off to you. Take Good Care.

^ the personification adds more depth to your poem.. the ending also really makes impact on the poem. I <33 you and hopefully i will see you sometime this summer.
