What I want from you

by sarah jenkins   Jul 1, 2005

This dark room enclosed around me,
Yet all I can see is light.
Just thinking of you makes my day,
It makes my life so bright.

Your what I dream of when I'm alone,
Your smile makes me feel so alive.
I long for your touch,
It's for you that I strive.

On a hot rainy day,
It’s you that I want to hold.
I want you to rap me up in a blanket,
On days that are crisp and cold.

I want a reason to be happy,
I want that reason to be you.
When I'm sad and feel so alone,
I want you to help me through.

Why can't you see that I want you?
Or are you just afraid love?
Because when I'm drowning in life's sorrow,
I want you to keep my head above.

Will you save me from this life?
Can you save me from this madness?
Can you lift the weight off my shoulders?
Can you take away my stress?

Will you be the reason I smile?
Would you do that for me?
Because as I sit in this dark room,
The light, and you, are all I can see.
