Tears drip off his chin
As he sits in his dark little corner
Scared he hinds
And watches his sister
Struggling under the covers
He wants to help her
So bad he wants to get up
But paralyzed by his fears
He stays still
Without a sound
He closes his eyes
And wonders away
To a land no one has ever been
And he will let no one in
“So give it up and go away”
He whispers quietly to himself

Now a young man
With a young lady so sweet
Singing in the car
Planning with friends to meet
Singing in the car
So careless and free
Everything is perfect
The way he wanted it to be
As they pull into the driveway
And time passes more
He watches his princess
Get beaten on the floor
He wants to help her
So bad he wants to get up
But paralyzed by his fears
He stays still
Without a sound
He closes his eyes
And wonders away
To a land no one has ever been
And he will let no one in
“So give it up and go away”
He whispers quietly to himself

A few years pass
As he stands to see
The most beautiful girl
His bride to be
As she walks down the aisle
She trips and falls
But it wasn’t just tripping
Which made blood fill the halls
A young man was shooting
Wanting all the money
And everyone one in a hurry
To get themselves free
He dropped down shaking
No thoughts in his head
As he looked at his bride
Who now lay dead
He wanted to help her
So bad he wants to get up
But paralyzed by his fears
He stays still
Without a sound
He closes his eyes
And wonders away
To a land no one has ever been
And he will let no one in
“So give it up and go away”
He whispers quietly to himself

Now he lays in his bed skinny and old
As he looks up at me
This story he told
He wanted to help them
But couldn’t you see
He was paralyzed with fears
And that’s why he helped me
He gave me his life
And guided me to see
That in the end
You just have to believe
I kissed his hand
As he drifted away
But there was nothing I could do
Nothing I could say
I wanted to help him
He meant much to me
But paralyzed by fear
I could no longer see
So I stay silent
Without a sound
I close my eyes
And set myself free
To a land we share
Just him and me
No one but us have been there
No one else can see
So “go away and give it up”
We whisper quiet in harmony
