She Cried - free verse(no rhyming)

by liVing lIes   Jul 1, 2005

The soft "pitter-patter"
of raindrops
echoed in her head
as she laid
against the sill.
Cold shivers ran down
her spine
as she thought of why she felt
as she did.
Memories of long ago
flashed in front of
her eyes
like an old film projector.
The blanket that was wrapped around her fragile
body served no use
for she still felt
cold
in the darkness
that surrounded her.
As she felt
loneliness
for the first time
she asked herself
"why?"
and a tear
rolled down her cheek
carrying particles of
the make-up she hid
behind
day after day.
Wiping it away
she stopped
and knew that
she must let
the river
flow.
Stream into the
deep ocean of emotions
that sooner or later
drowns us all.
Tear after tear was shed
and so
she became drenched
in her own,
almost eternal,
sadness.

This is a really good poem. It flows very nicely. Good work 5/5.
