Monster

by marilyn marti   Jul 2, 2005

With a sight so unsettling
it makes your heart stop
from the time you were sober
til the time you forgot

with a baseball bat in your hands
to that beautiful face
when you beat me down like a toy
a day I can't erase

In my memory exists a monster
who left me all alone
with a broken hand, a broken heart
and a dump of a home

with a crooked smile, and what a tease I used to be
a girl full of dreams and hopes
the happiness I seek

Screams that shook doors off their hinges
your whiskey breath reeked
an anger uncontrollable
a wretched soul too weak

a growing pain and guilty ghost
is now just all I am
a blade to sharp to touch
as no one understands

what I have gone through all these years
and what I continue to see
is that monster, that demon
that's right in front of me..

This is an amazing poem... It's filled with such emotion and the words are described brilliantly... If you could check out some of mine, that would be great:) (u might want to check out one called Monster By the Bed)

    All the best,
