Like Old Times

by Ashley Redden   Jul 3, 2005

Locked in the moment
Where life was so perfect
Never thought it'd ever changed
And i wasn't happy
Things got worser
Family just kinda fell apart
Things got out of control
Dad was gone at night and in the evenings
Like he never has time for us anymore
Work and party was his thing
Like he didn't care what was at home for em
Id wait up
He'd come in later and later every night
He'd come in be drunk
And the next thing I know
Hes done passed out
We're out in public
And he shows his self
I cant help but to be ashamed
The past 2 weeks has been different
Hes working and staying home in the evenings
Like somethings turned him around
Hes really easy to get along with
He isn't drinking as much either
For once in a while
A wish of mine came true
Something I been waiting for
For a while now
Dads the guy I hoped to soon see
He was like my hero then
I was a daddy's little girl
Something fell
And it changed
But tonight its different
We got along
Just like old times
Ive been happy
Don't know how much it really meant
Mom and dad got along like a long time ago
We all talked and laughed together
Just felt so right again
Wish we could lock time
And keep it like this forever
Whether it stays or it goes
I'm glad it happened
And enjoyed every minute of it

Nice,You know If you want to be better. You could always bring more feelings into the poem. And describe it as something like a rose,or rain.Stuff like that.
