Can Not Love In The Open

There are nights I dream of you
Holding you in my arms
Free and together
With no eyes judging us
I dream and dream at night
Smiling in my fantasy world
Of our love being free and open

Then my eyes open
And the darkness seeps in me
The tragic ending of my night
That the love I seek
Can only be in my fantasy
Because our love can not be a free one

Eyes will always follow us around
Can not turn around without a judging glance
Holding your hand; mothers shielding their children
I embrace you and people stare in disgust
I can not freely love you in the real world
Only my fantasy I long to live

To those who speak this a sin
Let me tell you one thing
If God let this be a sin
Then why would he let me feel this way?
Ones heart can not be controlled
My heart beats fast only for her

Our hearts can not my swayed by the mind
The mind is society in pure form
The standards and the norms; our minds
I know what you think
Those who believe I am damned for loving her
But I can not change my heart.

My heart beats like any others
And is moved by her
And yearns for her touch day after day
If it is so; that I shall be damned for this
Then let Hell burn my skin deep
Scorch away my body for I will never stop loving her

This is the tragic end to this love poem I wanted to write
But my mind felt your eyes
My fingers moved and darkness filled the second stanza
I want to hold her hand down the street
Without looking back at the children you hide…
