Of Friendship

by Brad Champagne   Jul 5, 2005

Looking back on what has past,
The things which come between,
I know our friendship e're will last
Though together we shall not be.

Love too deep for understanding
I hold for you yet this day;
A love defined by God's commanding
All to love in such a way.

I sing the songs that once were yours,
The poems of undying love,
And realize what the word implores,
A friend from the Lord above.

I could not ask for more than this,
A friend so kind and true,
Whose gentile smile I'll dearly miss
When again we say adieu.

Until such time, I gladly sing
As long as you shall hear.
You listen while my anthems ring
To God, and those who're near.
