A hero...
What defines a hero?
A hero shows no sign of selfishness,
Caring for others,
Rather than himself.
A hero is as brave as you and I,
They fear what we fear,
But they act despite it.
A hero is strong...
But not always physically,
But emotionally,
And mentally.
They act with no consent,
Nor thought of reward.
They are self-sacrificing people,
Giving up what their hearts desire,
Nay their very dreams,
To an ideal...
That there is still some good in this world.
I'm just a man walking in the footsteps of heroes,
Much nobler men than I could ever dream of being.
Here I am walking in the footsteps of heroes.
Men that I look up to,
Not because they are stronger than me,
But because they are the men I dream of someday being.
Walking in the footsteps of heroes...
I can never be like them,
But I can walk in their footsteps.
...And who knows...
Maybe someone will walk in mine.
