Sinking Depression

by Kaye   Jul 8, 2005

No matter what I do,
No matter how hard I try,
I can't escape this sinking depression,
This emptiness inside.

The blanket of sadness,
The suffocating presence,
It holds me down,
Until I'm flat on the ground.

It keeps me from smiling,
And chases away laughter,
There's just no joy,
It's no where to be found.

No matter how I pretend,
No matter how I hide,
It wraps itself around me,
Cutting off all the air.

It makes me think dark thoughts,
And hope for a quick death,
Where I don't have to think at all,
And finally be at peace.
