Dear Diary, My Sister Died Yesterday...

Dear Diary,
I don't understand what happened
Why does it have to be this way?
You see, the worst thing happened
My sister died yesterday

Nothing was wrong, really
She didn't have cancer, or any disease
But she got in a car accident
And died before we could see

She was coming home last night
Driving down the street
When she lost control of her car
And skidded across the concrete

Her car crashed into a tree
Infact, the car was wrapped around
She was there a minute
And then it was her car someone found

They called the police
But it was too late
My sister was already dead
The damage was too great

It just isn't fair
She was only sixteen!
The thought of it to me
Just makes me want to scream

She was only a sophmore
And now she is dead
My sweet older sister
Why wasn't it me, instead?

If I could have kept her home that night
Or just given her one more embrace
I would do anything
If I could take her place

I miss her so greatly
And Mom and Dad do, too
Without my best friend
I don't know what we'll do

But I have to go now, Diary
It's time to plan her funeral and her wake
I just can't help but think
That this was all one big mistake
