Dear God, Why Can't They Understand?

Dear God,
All these people on the Earth
Why can't they understand?
That when they are down
You'll come and take their hand

Why can't they understand?
That you are the one who created Earth
That you gave us everything
You gave us life and birth

Why can't they understand?
It isn't you letting us go through pain
It's ourselves and our own stupid choices
That we really have to blame

Why can't they understand?
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life
With you to help us no one needs
To go to the knife

Why can't they understand?
That although we can't see you
That you are the One true God
And you will save us, too

Why can't they understand?
That you died and rose again
For all of us to be with you
In your kingodm, Heaven

Why can't they understand?
That all they have to do is pray
And tell you that they believe in you
And then try to live according to your ways

Why can't they understand?
That the Bible is your Word
It's not a book of lies
It's not bad and absurd

Why can't they understand?
The devil is our enemy
HE makes us hate in simple ways
He is trying to kill us - all and any

Why can't they understand?
That all we need is you
When life is one, big mess
You will still be there and true
