If only (resubmitted)

He was a child of innocence,
Born into the light,
Who would know that he would fall,
A victim to the night.

Days passed he was watching him,
Silently as he grew,
Waiting for the time and chance,
And no one ever knew.

he blossomed like a fragrant flower,
A gift of god's creation,
But too soon he would learn,
The devil's own damnation.

Late one night so quietly,
He slipped into his room,
It was the beginning,
Of a lifetime filled with gloom.

A pillow did its job,
Muffling his screams and tears,
One night stripped him of innocence,
And filled his life with fear.

Who could he turn to,
Who would he tell,
he silently prayed to god,
That his father would rot in hell.

The years passed and were unkind,
Violated to insanity,
he grew tall but he had lost,
Faith in all humanity.

One day he reached his end,
And went down to the basement,
he found the answer he was seeking,
There amidst the cold cement.

A double barrel Shotgun,
Propped up against the wall,
he climbed the stairs and silently,
Walked down the cold dark hall.

The first shot hit his heart,
he had finally been set free,
But he could not trust the courts,
To see the truth and let him be.

Mother Wouldn't understand the heart ache.
No one ever got to see
The vile acts of filth and the pain,
People always saw him as the Dad he'd longed to be...

One more shot left in the gun,
he knew just how to use it,
The barrel placed between his legs,
To misuse it is to lose it....
but then i'd always wake up......
it was only a dream..... GOD!!!
if only that Shotgun had existed........
