FORGIVE

by samy   Jul 8, 2005

Forgive me, my friend, for I was blind
I did not know, wasn't being unkind
To intrude on your sorrow was not mine to do
But I'll be standing by to help you through

We've been friends in good times and bad
It makes me hurt to see you so sad
Forgive me my friend, I can't let you die
To help you survive this, I have to try

The thing that you saw, the way that you felt
Is a thing with which I have never dealt
I cannot know how your mind is coping
To ease your burden was all I was hoping

I know you feel guilty because you survived
Forgive yourself, too many tears you've cried
What happened was never in your control
Forgive yourself, reclaim your soul

Your suffering is yours to bear as you will
Remember I care and will be here still
When you are ready to let go of the pain
To face the world and become whole again.

You'll never forget it, this I know
But you must forgive in order to grow
To absorb this tragedy into your soul
Set the pain free so once more you'll be whole.
