Black Ribbon

I wish i had a black ribbon
to tie up in my hair
to sweep it back behind my ears
and then to keep it there

i want this ribbon simply cuz
its beautiful to touch
i want the silky in my hands
I'd love it oh so much

I'd run this ribbon through my fingers
for many hours on end
I'd twirl it through the air and watch
it twist and wind and bend

i wish i had a black ribbon
to represent my soul
to float and fly and frolic
and wish someday to be whole

i wish to tie it round my neck
to represent a noose
and then I'd put it on my head
and pretend i was a moose

but really, theres a message here
that i forgot to say
the moral is, ribbons are great fun
and provide hours of play

a ribbon is quite pretty
its delicate yet strong
its purposes are many
be it short, or if its long

but i wish i had a black ribbon
sure, its fun, thats true
but i mostly wish i had one
to tie me up to you
