Wrath’Guard

by Elizabeth Ann   Jul 9, 2005

Standing as you are, watching you watching me…surely you can appreciate its irony as well as I?
Picture perfect…living overlong for which you stake me, is it envy?
Could faith drive you, as livid as the old witch hunters, those warlocks and your ancestors blackened underground, shameless sorcerers just as me?
Would you turn from your God if I were to give you a hand? Urging that final stroke together? Otherwise, shall I bear my breast and miss my saving throw purposely, relishing such an end as thee…would that not be in your code, is their a law against my repentance, would a smart man like yourself see it as false and still take me head?

*Sighs, dropping his massive shoulders*
Should it be easy to give in, have you struggled with this, have you even been listening. Can I still feel would you even wonder? Has your hate effected me, does it please me to see that we both leave our legacies secure…the Hunter become the Hunted?
We share the same Lord and I still cannot say, but I can appraise you for your blind faith, though it’s flawed to a creature that has lived for none of them.

I lived for today to face you, as I am now. And you have a purpose for meeting my destiny. You have been shown favor to bear such strength to defeat me, though it was unnecessary. *Kneels with all the grace he’s mastered*

Have your bag of tricks, this clever mind that’s kept you running. I welcome such a magnificent blade as Wrath.

*The Hunter leans heavily on his burden, momentarily unable to lift the massive sword, this great creature’s demise. He speaks, and it’s heard barely above a whisper*.
Go, never to return and I will have mercy. You cannot stay here and I not kill you. I will have you know it is something I dread doing. Rise up on the wind, or whatever it is you do.

*Kindred sighed once more, taking his time to stand. He didn’t make to leave but approached the torn Prince, speaking softly*
Your life will be unbearable, having broken your vow. You will return from whence you came and kill yourself within a month. *He hesitated before continuing, having to force the words* come with me and I promise you a life more bearable. You would be my worthy companion. It is your choice, and I offer it only once.

*The prince summoned all his strength, and spoke all but conquered* you know I cannot, so why do you offer? I would have long ago perhaps, but I’ve spilled my blood on this soil as a man. This is my home. *The Immortal scoffed* such foolishness, do you truly think after what you’ve done here today it will ever be the same again? I will vanish without a trace, and you will remain imprisoned within your guilt.
