Only God

by Just Sierra   Jul 9, 2005

It’s the middle of the night
And Mrs. Beauty Queen is alone.
You’d think she’d be happy
But she’s really on her own.

The world is looking at her
Wondering what she plans to do
But she cowers behind the smile.
If you were her, you would too.

The pressure is all on her
She has to look her best
She can’t eat a single bite
Or get any rest.

The fans are always too busy
To look at her left arm.
They’re too enchanted with her walk
And the beauty of her facial charm.

Yet on her arms are many scars
Each with a story to tell
About the many troubles she has faced
And every tear that fell.

She opens herself to the pain
As a way to punish imperfection
Her face is as white as snow
And fades through her reflection.

“Give me a reason to live.
Please, just give me one.”
She’d beseech herself so deeply
Close to being done.

“The people always judge me.
They don’t look past what they see.
They’re not interested in how I am,
They don’t want to know me.

“And what’s the use in pleasing them,
When all they do is judge?
The girls can get so jealous,
That sometimes they hold a grudge.”

And then she looked at the scars
And the blood stained rag on the floor.
What was the point in going on,
When there’s nothing to live for?

God had escaped her mind
When he cursed her with the life.
It was almost as if he wanted it this way
And passed her the knife.

But suddenly a light shined above
As she stood on the runway.
It was the first time in so long
It had occurred to her to stay.

That not every ending had to be bleak
With a sad death by a love.
The ending of the road was lit
And not the ending she was thinking of.

All your life, at any age
People will often stare.
But they will always come and go
But God will always be there.

People will always judge
It’s just the way it has to be,
But I refuse to let go because of them,
Because only god will judge me.
