Shelby

Good-bye, Shelby.
I already miss you.

My friend died a few days ago.
It almost doesn't seem real.
I'm so horrible, I let her die.
I don't know what to feel.

She fought cancer all 14 years of her life.
She was so brave through it all.
And when the treatments failed,
All I could do was watch her fall.

The worst part, though,
Is that she was my best friend.
I couldn't bring myself to do her eulogy.
I didn't want to believe this was the end.

We had so much fun together.
Sleepovers, guys, shopping trips.
Doing each others makeup.
Blue lipstick on her lips.

But now it's time to say goodbye,
I miss you so much, my friend.
But I promise, I really do.
I'll meet you at the end.
