The Haunted House

by David   Jul 12, 2005

You ventured where people dared not go,
Was that a whisper, you heard far below?

The darkness lingers, the floors would creak,
A hinting coldness from the walls would leak.

Are shadows lurking behind that tree?
Would you walk further and follow me?

The rooms are empty with a cold stale air,
You thought you heard a cry of despair.

The corners are dark, and you cannot see,
Go deeper in, or would you flee?

Would you take my hand, past the graves?
Where nausea came in thundering waves?

Could you walk? Where people died?
Where children suffered as they cried?

Could you come, and be with me?
With all the death wrapped in misery?

Over there, the moon is waning,
Was that a moving, in that painting?

This house is old with forgotten age,
The iron gates, a lockless cage.

Dark clouds do linger far above,
Dare you venture into my love?
