Shooting Star: To Tasha.. My best friend forever

by Kyrstie   Jul 12, 2005

My friend to me is what you are,
As we wish upon the shooting star.
And we watch as the star goes by,
You are my angel sent down from the sky.
Life goes by and we get older,
The seasons change and it gets colder.
You were always there when i needed you,
Even through a frostbitten day you came through.
For me you've been the friend I needed,
With problems you helped and were never conceited.
So, it's time to say thanks for all that you've done,
From freezing outside to tanning in the sun.
Childhood memories bring laughs and joys,
Because when we had each other there were no need for toys.
Even in fights I could count on you,
To be there for me and help me get through.
Don't ever forget that people care,
And sometimes it seems that things are not fair.
But God created you, the way you are,
To hope that someday you will go far.
Best friends like us are like a pair of diamonds,
They cannot be made, you have to find them.
And we are both different, each with feelings and all,
Especially our interest for things in the mall!
And as I think of my wish as the star shoots by,
I gaze up at the starry sky.
Where would I be right now without you?
Would I be sitting here thinking of something to do?
Would I have a friend that loves me the way I need to be?
Where would you be?
Would you need me?
And as the star faded away,
I wished to myself as there I lay.
When I turned to you, you started to smile,
Wishing away all the while.
I tell you my wish, a secret for you,
That someday you will need me the way I do.
Your smile grows, you're glad you came,
You tell me that you wished the same.
We turn on our backs, ready to leave,
We watch the trees sway and weave.
We stand up and go on home,
And this for you is my poem.
Don't be afraid of who you are,
And always wish upon a shooting star.
