Daddy was the kind of man
Who always loved and cared
He was not like Mommy
Daddy loved little girl and he always shared

Mommy hit her little girl
Who never did anything wrong
The only thing little girl ever did
Was liten to her daddy's song

Daddy was a truck driver
And was always so far away
So he would call little girl
And sing this song every day

Mommy thought this was stupid
So she hit little girl most every day
But the weird part is
She only did this when Daddy was away

She told little girl
Not to tell Daddy what went on
She said Daddy would take her away
Then she would make sure little girl would be gone

Mommy said she would hurt little girl
If ever did she tell
So little girl did not tell Daddy
Even though she was not well

Little girl had bruises
All of and down her arms and legs
But never would she tell Daddy
Because of the way Mommy begged

One day Daddy said he would take little girl
On his next trucking job
But Mommy said this was stupid
And made little girl sob

She wanted to badly to get away from Mommy
But Mommy would not let her go
She said it was stupid
And her final answer was "no"

"Daddy I need to talk to you"
Little girl said later that day
"What is the matter baby girl?"
Daddy said as she looked away

"I am not supposed to tell you this
Mommy said it was a bad thing to do
But I can not take this any longer"
She said kicking with her shoe

Daddy pulled her chin up
Looking so very sad
"Baby what do you mean?
I promise I will not get mad"

Little girl bit her lip
"Mommy does things that other Mommies do not do
I have never seen my friend's Mommy do this
She said it was called abuse"

Daddy looked scared
As he looked into his baby girl's eyes
"She hits you?"
Daddy asked starting to cry

Little girl nodded so very ashamed
"Mommy said if I told you, you would have her put away
She said that if I told you
She would get rid of me another day"

"Mommy will not do that
I will make sure of it
We will not let Mommy
Have another little fit"

Daddy gave his little girl a hug
And said sorry for what Mommy had done
"It is not your fault, Daddy"
Little girl said chewing on the inside of her gum

Daddy had Mommy put away
So Mommy could not hurt this little girl
Now Daddy can take her on trips
And little girl can see a new world

Little girl is not so little anymore
And Mommy died in jail
Daddy committed suicide
And no one if left to bail

That little girl that was in this story
Is now 17 years of age
And the only time she remembers happy things
Are when she visits her father's grave

She listens to the song
Almost every day
That little girl was me
And the memories will never fade away
