Escape This Pain

by Just Sierra   Jul 13, 2005

You’re all I’ve got in this world
That’s left me all alone
One moment I had your hand
Guiding me through this life unknown.

I had you only for a while
And then you slipped away
My grip on you was so weak
And you didn’t want to stay

Where do I go from here?
I don’t know how to survive
I was so reliant on you
To keep me safe and alive

But there’s nothing and nobody
That can save me where I am at
For the direction in which I’m going
Is nowhere on the map

These cuts and these bruises
Never seem to heal
Before I gain another one
O, the treachery I conceal

However, the rest of the times this happened
Someone else better came along
You were as good as it gets,
That having someone else seems too wrong.

I whimper from my weakness
I shake from my lack of sleep
I’m dying, bleeding everywhere
You must have cut too deep

My stomach is in knots
It feels like I’m going to implode
I need you back at my side
To release some of this heavy load.

You were all that kept me here
As these tears will eventually drain
I must leave you like you left me
I have to escape this pain.

Sierra, it isn't over nothing. It's over a lot of things. And that poem was about fixing a friendship, not ending it. I'm trying my hardest, ok? I'm not mad or anything, and you shouldn't be sorry. We're doing the best we can!
